Jacinta's Best Beach Songs
I'm in Negril, Jamaica for my honeymoon and I just found out that Better Than Okay is listed as a Top Beach Read on a site I love, MommyNoire. What better way to celebrate both of these accomplishments than with my own list? Here are some beach jams paired with some of my fav romance books of the past year or so.
“Sade,” Paradise. Because... Sade.
Book Companion: Coming Home by Priscilla Glenn because Danny and Leah created their own little paradise despite their circumstances. See what I did there?
“Caribbean Queen,” Billy Ocean. Yep, that’s right. There’s no better way to get your beach party started than by cranking up some Billy Ocean.
Book Companion: Making Faces by Amy Harmon because I'm pretty certain Ambrose would've listened to this while he was in the army overseas.
“Nite & Day,” Al B. Sure. Okay, so this song is not necessarily the first thing that you think about when envisioning a beach vacation but let me tell you—I played it our first day here and the jamming that ensued was nothing short of inspiring.
Book Companion: Crimson Footprints II by Shewanda Pugh because it seems like something Kenji Tanaka would play trying to be funny.
“Who Do We Think We Are,” John Legend. His song “All of Me” has been playing here non-stop—all 150 island versions of it. But since “all of me” really finds this song incredibly annoying, I chose another one that I actually like.
Book Companion: One Week Boyfriend by Monica Murphy because Fable and Drew are pretty cool together.
“Cherish the Day,” Sade (yes, again). This is the song I walked down the aisle to a week ago, and a perfect beach ditty.
Book Companion: Better Than Okay by Yours Truly because…
“Welcome to Jamrock,” Damien Marley. Another one that needs no explanation.
Book Companion: Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker because Kacey is pretty tough.
"Golden Time of Day," Frankie Beverly & Maze. Break out your linen and white ball cap and stroll the beach while listening to this one.
Book Companion: Stinger by Mia Sheridan because Carson "Stinger" is cool enough to enjoy this song.
“No, No, No,” by Dawn Penn. One of my favorite songs of ever and when it came bellowing over the speakers one night as I lay on my chair, facing the pristine Jamaican waters, it was idyllic.
Book Companion: Happiness in Jersey by Yours Truly because this song is something that Zay and Jersey would definitely rock out to.
