As I mentioned Blind Expectations, the full-length novel from the Because My Heart Said So friends-to-lovers compilation that was published over the summer, is coming very soon. Soon as in, this month. It was fun delving back into Leah and Trevor's world. I really, really love this couple and I hope you do too. As I said, their full story is on the way soon. In the meantime, check out this sample from the novel, out this month. ---------------------------------- FROM BLIND EXPECTATIONS As if he’d conjured her, Leah appeared in the living room entrance, wearing one of his OutKast t-shirts. He met her gaze and he knew why she’d decided to wear hat so low earlier; her eyes were still puffy. She shifted her weight, and opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something, then closed it. He bit the inside of his lip, not breaking her gaze, a mixture of emotions flooding him. Yearning. Disappointment. Turmoil. Anger. Anger won out. She sighed, then turned and headed into their bedroom without a word. A second later, the light flicked off. Trevor ran a hand over his face, then pushed his computer off of his lap, placing it on the floor next to him as he stretched out on the couch, forcing himself to focus on the football highlights instead of Leah lying in bed alone, her eyes puffy with tears he’d caused. No. That she’d caused by keeping things from him, and then lying. He didn’t know what time it was when he awakened, but he shifted under the weight that was on top of him, pressing insistently into his ribcage. He grunted and moved, still half asleep, and turned his head. Hair tickled the underside of his skin and he tried to dodge the sensation to no avail. He blinked his gritty eyes open, slightly disoriented, his sleepy gaze focusing on the top of a curly head. Light was now pouring through the patio blinds and it took him a second to remember he’d fallen asleep last night on the couch, and another to realize that it was Leah’s frame that was pressed against his body. He shifted slightly, and she stirred, snuggling herself closer against his chest, her breathing still deep and peaceful, her bow-shaped lips fixed in an adorable almost-pout. Somehow, she’d wedged herself between his body and the back of the couch cushions. She must’ve come to him the middle of the night at some point. She’d even brought the gray and teal comforter from their bed. He ran a finger down her back, looking down at Leah as she slept peacefully on his chest. It was moments like these, when Leah exposed herself to him in a complete display of vulnerability that made it impossible for him to feel anything but love for her. To want to do anything but to protect her, anything to prove to her that no matter what she’d been through before, no matter what she did to him, she was safe in his arms because he loved her like no one else ever did or even could. She stirred, sliding her palm up his chest when he shifted slightly on the cushions, inhaling as she blinked herself awake. Her eyes were hooded and for a long second they just stared at each other. “You never came to bed,” she finally offered in explanation, lifting her shoulders slightly. Her voice was thick with sleep, soft and early morning sensual but also vulnerable. He exhaled, though the weight on his chest was still there. “Why didn’t you just wake…” “Because I didn’t know if you’d come.” She said it matter-of-factly, almost void of emotion. He pushed out a long breath, staring down at her. “Where’d you go last night?” she asked. “To have a drink with T.J.” She blinked and looked away out toward their small patio for a second, for a second before lying her head back down on his chest. “I’m sorry, Trevor,” she said so low he almost didn’t hear her. He felt wetness against his skin where her cheek was pressed against his chest, though she made no noise, and it felt as though his heart was physically bending. He didn’t know how far it could contort until it broke. I really have to get my life together. I haven't posted here in so long, it's completely understandable if you totally forgot that I even have a website. But... life.
At least I've been writing a lot lately... and to that end, I'm geting ready to drop the full-length novel of Blind Expectations! In fact, it's coming this month, and believe me when I say, Leah and Trevor have a lot to share about their lives in this full-length book. Although Blind Expectations started out as a novella in the Because My Heart Said So collection featuring myself, Nia Forrester, Rae Lamar and Lily Java which dropped this summer, I always knew I had more share about Leah and Trevor. I knew they had a lot of story left to tell. Hopefully you enjoy getting back into their world as much as I enjoyed writing about them. Blind Expectations.... COMING SOON. |
