Hey y'all,
Let's talk about romance tropes. You know, those tried-and-true themes that we all love. Personally, my favorites are friends-to-lovers and second chances. There's something magical about watching characters evolve and find love in unexpected places. Friends-to-lovers is a classic trope that never gets old. There's an inherent sweetness in watching two people who already share a deep bond slowly realize their feelings for each other run deeper than friendship. The foundation of trust and understanding they’ve built makes their romantic journey feel genuine and earned. Plus, the moment when they finally acknowledge their feelings? I've written several friends-to-lovers stories that you might dig. Check out my Love Always series which includes Better Than Okay, More Than Always, and Less Than Forever. Also, you might like Blind Expectations and a short story called Again. And guess what? I have more friends-to-lovers stories on the way :-) I can't wait to share these new stories with you. Stay tuned. Hey y’all!
I wanted to let you know about a book giveaway I'm participating in. It's a chance to win a copy of my novel The Night Before, along with books from various other authors. There's also a grand prize of an e-reader up for grabs. Just a heads up — most of the books in this giveaway are not Black romance. But if you're mainly interested in a shot at winning The Night Before or the e-reader, you might want to check it out. Oh, and for the audiobook lovers out there - The Night Before is also available in audio - just thought I'd mention that :-) And yes, the sequel to The Night Before, called The Morning After, is still coming (no date yet). You can check out a snippet of the first chapter if you're curious. As for the giveaway—enter by clicking here. Hey y'all, This summer has already been super hot, right? At least there's always reading. Here's a few Black romance books for you to check out this summer from some dope Black romance authors. Happy reading! 1. Danielle Allen"Curvy Girl Summer" Description: "Life is too short to hate your body and deny yourself happiness. That’s why I came up with the Curvy Girl Summer Challenge. It’s a body positive journey I’m taking with my two best friends to change the way we see ourselves. The challenge is about learning to love our bodies and living our best lives." 2. Kennedy Ryan"This Could Be Us" Description: "Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. Because, of course, she does. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. She’s a domestic goddess who's never met a party she couldn't host or a charge she couldn't lead. The one with all the answers and the perfect vinaigrette for that summer salad. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion. But there is no time to pout or sulk, or even grieve the life she lost. She's too busy keeping a roof over her daughters' heads and food on the table. And in the process of saving them all, Soledad rediscovers herself. From the ashes of a life burned to the ground, something bold and new can rise. But then an unlikely man enters the picture—the forbidden one, the one she shouldn't want but can't seem to resist. She's lost it all before and refuses to repeat her mistakes. Can she trust him? Can she trust herself? After all she's lost . . .and found . . .can she be brave enough to make room for what could be?" 3. D.L. White"The Pearl at Black Diamond" Description: "After spending years raising her siblings, witty and ambitious Kari Savoy is ready to dive headfirst into a new career challenge: Director of Marketing and Events for the luxurious Pearl Resort and Residences on picturesque Black Diamond. With determination and a desire to breathe life into a struggling resort, she faces her biggest obstacle yet–her uptight boss, Property Manager Davis Scott. Davis is a seasoned hotelier with a reputation for turning mid-range establishments into luxurious havens. He takes his job seriously and, with reason, is cautious about mixing business with pleasure. As the pressure to maintain the resort's success mounts, he finds himself torn between his growing attraction to Kari and his strict professional boundaries. Pack for undeniable sparks, swoons and plenty of snickers as love takes these characters on a wild and unpredictable ride. Whether you're a fan of DL White's #beachyBlackromance series or diving in for the first time, The Pearl at Black Diamond is guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face and a warm, sandy feeling in your heart. Content advisory: This novel depicts a family in the throes of parental loss, refers to drug use, the criminal justice system, and features adult language and situations, including vivid descriptions of consensual sex. If you are sensitive to any of these descriptors, please proceed with caution." 4. Christina C. Jones"Free Agent" Description: "For Rori Mitchell, delulu is decidedly not the solulu. Getting her lick back is. What starts as chance encounter at a sporting event ends up being a perfect distraction from the chaos of a broken heart. Instead of throwing herself into work, she throws herself - for good or bad - into Tatum Wilder. An offensive tackle for the Connecticut Kings, Tatum is used to high-stakes games and intense scrutiny. On the field, he’s a powerhouse; off the field, he’s a country boy with gentleman tendencies… and a propensity toward knowing the right thing to say at all times. Well. Most of the time. Their connection? Immediate and undeniable. Well… They can deny it. After all, with Rori on the heels of heartbreak, a relationship could be a disaster. Free Agency might be a position of power. Or maybe just a crutch." 5. Nia Forrester"Secret" (Available now in audio) Description: "Trey Denison is a man shaped by loss who has learned to bury his emotions and keep most relationships superficial. And Shayla Jordan is hiding from a past she can't seem to escape, even by starting over in a city where no one knows her secret. When Shayla rents the basement apartment in Trey’s childhood home, her quiet, enigmatic nature arouses his curiosity, and Shayla sees in Trey a chance to rediscover her sensuality. But as their initially cautious connection deepens far beyond anything either of them anticipated, the secrets they each harbor threaten to surface, jeopardizing everything they’ve built. Can Shayla and Trey overcome their pasts and embrace the possibility of a future together, or will their hidden truths tear them apart?" Happy reading! Throughout the entire month of July, all of my books will be available for free on Smashwords. This is your chance to catch up on any of my backlist titles you haven't read yet. Happy reading!
